Terms of service
Plain-language summaries first, the binding text inside each section. If a summary and its text ever disagree, the text governs.
1 · What Everybarn is A marketplace, not a party to the sale.
Everybarn provides listings, verification, messaging, and market data; payment for an animal runs through a licensed third-party escrow provider, never through Everybarn. The sale contract is between buyer and seller. We are not a breeder, broker, dealer, or veterinary provider, and nothing on Everybarn is veterinary advice.
2 · Accounts & verification One person, one account, real identity.
You must be 18+ and provide accurate information. Seller accounts require identity verification before listings go live. One identity per seller account; circumventing a ban by re-registering is prohibited and ends the account.
3 · Listings Accurate, yours, and welfare-compliant.
You may only list animals you own or bred, described accurately, with records you actually hold. Every document you upload must be genuine and unaltered, and uploading it is your attestation that it is. Documents are on file for buyers' own due diligence; Everybarn doesn't verify them with the issuer. Listings must comply with the animal welfare policy and all applicable law, including species restrictions in your and the buyer's jurisdiction. We may remove listings that don't; fees for removed listings are not refunded when removal is for cause.
4 · Payments & fees Payments through licensed escrow only; fees as published.
Buyers pay $0 in fees. Sellers pay the published listing fee, and Concierge sales carry the published commission. Payment for an animal must run through the licensed third-party escrow provider, never through Everybarn; soliciting or making payment outside it is grounds for permanent removal, and no escrow provider holds that payment.
5 · Buyer protection & disputes 72 hours to dispute; the escrow provider decides, on the record.
Disputes must be raised with the escrow provider within 72 hours of handoff. The provider holds the payment and decides its release under its own dispute process; Everybarn supplies the record from both sides, including records, the thread, and vet documentation, and never decides where funds go. Nothing here limits your legal rights against the other party.
6 · Prohibited conduct The welfare policy is binding; so is honesty.
The animal welfare policy is incorporated into these Terms. Also prohibited: misrepresentation of any kind, harassment, scraping or misusing market data, and using the platform for any illegal trade. We enforce with removal, bans, and reports to authorities where warranted, and we publish enforcement counts quarterly.
7 · Content & data Your content is yours; sale records power the index.
You keep ownership of your photos and text and grant Everybarn a license to display them for the listing's purpose. Completed-sale records are anonymized and included in Fair Value market data permanently.
8 · Liability & changes Live-animal sales carry inherent risk.
To the extent the law allows, Everybarn's liability is capped at the greater of fees you paid us in the past 12 months or $100. We'll notify you of material changes to these Terms 30 days before they take effect; continued use is acceptance.
9 · Listing terms Version 2026-09-26.2 · binding on every listing, accepted when it is published.
Version 2026-09-26.2: effective 2026-09-26. AI-drafted placeholder terms encoding the platform's standing rules; counsel review is pending under the crawler_policy_and_listing_terms legal gate. These terms govern every native listing on Everybarn.
1. What Everybarn is
Everybarn is a fees-only classifieds and data platform for animals. We publish listings from identity-verified sellers, display species-adaptive Papers records, and show Fair Value ratings modeled from comparable sales. We are not a seller, broker, dealer, auctioneer, lender, insurer, or escrow provider, and we never take title to or custody of any animal.
2. Fees (fees-only)
- Sellers pay a flat listing fee per native listing for its 90-day term, or a monthly Pro subscription with unlimited listings. Fees never stack: a Pro subscriber pays no per-listing fee, and a Concierge sale carries no listing fee.
- Concierge is an optional service on eligible listings of $25,000 and up, billed as a percentage of the closed sale. It is never available for dogs, cats, or rabbits.
- There are no buyer fees. Buyers never pay Everybarn anything, for any feature, at any time.
- Boosts exist only inside Pro and are never sold separately. There is no free native listing tier.
- Applicable sales tax on listing fees and subscriptions is shown separately where it is collected.
3. No fund holding
Everybarn never holds, moves, or controls transaction funds. Listing fees and subscriptions are the only charges we process, and they are charges for our own service. Any reservation deposit is charged directly to the seller's own connected payment account and settles straight to the seller. Where escrow is used, it is provided by a licensed third-party escrow provider; Everybarn is only a referrer and technology orchestrator and never a party to the funds.
4. Seller obligations
- Every seller completes identity verification before any listing becomes visible to buyers. We store only the verification provider's reference and status: never identity images.
- Listings are structured records. Every comparable or verifiable attribute is a standardized field; the only free text is a short "Seller's notes" section labeled as the seller's own unverified words.
- Papers documents are uploaded by the seller and kept on file for buyers' own due diligence. Everybarn does not verify documents with the clinic, lab, registry, or licensing agency that issued them. By uploading a document, you attest that it is genuine and unaltered and that it is about the animal it is attached to. Signed-in buyers can open the documents on a listing, with phone numbers and email addresses on them blurred automatically. A document that automated checks or a buyer's report flags is reviewed by a person, and one that is unreadable or not a document is removed.
- When a sale completes through escrow, the buyer receives a licence to keep the listing's photos and the blurred copies of its Papers documents in their animal's record, and to show the photos on the animal's own card if they choose. Contact details on the documents stay blurred; permits and breeder licences are not included, and the seller's name, address and contact details are never passed on.
- Before any listing can publish, the seller ticks every item of the listing rules checklist and confirms each: the animal is their own, or one they bred, and they are not listing it for someone else or reselling it; the photos and records are of this animal; every health condition they know of is disclosed; they will follow local laws on selling animals, including licences, permits, and minimum ages; and, where the species' rules add them, young animals go home no younger than the legal minimum and every required permit is held. Dog, cat, and rabbit listings may come from a breeder or an individual owner, never from an agent or broker, and a breeder licence must be on file wherever the law requires one.
- Exotic listings pass state and federal legality screens before publishing; captive-bred status and permits are part of the record.
- Every listing close reports its outcome (sold, withdrawn, or expired) and, when sold, the sold price, which feeds Fair Value as a comparable.
5. Reservation deposits (dogs, cats, and rabbits)
Reservation deposits on dog, cat, and rabbit listings are always refundable, and the breeder source is always disclosed to the buyer before any deposit is taken. These refundable source-disclosed deposits are the product standard nationally, not only where a statute requires them. Deposits are processed seller-direct and are never held by Everybarn.
6. No phone step
Seller identity verification runs through a hosted identity provider, and Papers documents are uploaded as files. Everybarn does not contact issuers about documents. There is no phone step anywhere on the platform, no phone field on any form, and no contact-detail harvesting. Buyer and seller communicate through in-platform messaging.
7. AI features
AI features draft, match, and flag. They are labeled as AI-generated with a "can make mistakes" disclaimer, grounded in live listings and Papers data, only pre-fill a document's issuer and date for the seller to check, and never create, infer, or confirm a Papers record, never make a final removal or verification decision, never assess an animal's health, soundness, or temperament from media, and never generate animal imagery.
8. Prohibited listings and conduct
No auctions, no adoption or rehoming inventory (the Adopt page refers out to adoption organizations), no brokered dog, cat, or rabbit sales, no unverified sellers, no reused or misrepresented photos, and no off-platform payment solicitation. Listings may be removed and sellers banned by human moderation decision.
9. Fair Value and estimates
Fair Value ratings, bands, and financing estimates are statistical estimates and illustrations, not appraisals, offers, or guarantees. Financing estimates are illustrative and not an offer of credit; Everybarn is not a lender and may introduce buyers to third-party lenders. Insurance referrals are disclosed and compensated as a flat fee per referral only; Everybarn never discusses coverage terms.
10. Changes
These terms are versioned. Publishing a listing records the version accepted. A new version applies to listings published after its effective date.
